20 Penny Circus

20 Penny Circus is two incredibly talented magicians and sideshow men who've headlined Universal's Halloween Horror Nights and most recently the New York Fringe Festival. One of them is actually sideshow royalty, being the son of the man who invented the real deal bullet catch (shooting a .22 into his mouth), which he went on to teach to David Blaine.

Tyler Sutter and Carl Skenes are the 20 Penny Circus, a diabolical Florida clown duo that performs feats of magic and insane stunts in a vaudevillian manner with a fresh modern flair. Being a duo for only 5 years, they seem to have had a fair amount of success in such a short time performing at some of the largest events and stages and in some of the most prestigious of venues. Their show is a high-energy, modern take on vaudeville, with captivating stunts and hilarious character dynamic. They are two attractive gentlemen in their mid-20s, with mildly soft voices, but onstage it’s different. With the unconventional humor and witty banter, they have been called charmingly abrasive while delivering a fresh new style of captivating entertainment.

Tyler Sutter, who had an interest in circus and performing from a young age, cut his teeth performing magic shows at the Universal Studios Magic Shop. Here, he performed over 30,000 shows in the 5 years he worked in the park. During this time he performed his solo act at dinner shows, comedy clubs, and event nights all over florida. Currently residing in Gulfport, when not performing, Tyler and his wife run a costume business making high end swimmable mermaid tails. Carl, on the other hand was enslaved into the industry at a very young age. Starting to perform at age seven with the Dixie Stampede, he was then cast as a dancer at Walt Disney World for a successful three years, including performing in the annual Disney Christmas Special on ABC. Like his father, he is also an accomplished balloon artist, magician, and stunt performer extraordinaire, having performed at the filming of TNT's Christmas in Washington and a one-man show at the Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City.
After relocating back to Florida Skenes met Sutter and they began working together almost immediately.

Booking art shows and exhibits under the name Sutter and Skenes, they would each do bits from their solo shows, attempting to top each other while often displaying terrible sportsmanship. Four months later, Sutter and Skenes changed to "The 20 Penny Opera", and the costumes changed to matching suits. Following a "creative lockdown", solo material changed to a more cohesive ensemble show, and Opera was dropped in favor of Circus. Emerging from the lab with a new show, new tools, beer, and for the first time, clown makeup, they began to expose the world to their blend of magic, circus, sideshow, and comedy in a fresh new style of vaudevillian variety. This was the show that launched these gents into the limelight. By 2011, they were headlining venues all over the CFL Area including the Improv Comedy Clubs in Orlando and Tampa. In 2012, they were a main attraction at Universal Halloween Horror Nights. In 2013, they hosted the headlining show "Cirque Du Fringe" at the Rochester NY International Fringe Festival. Returning to Rochester in 2014 as double headliners, they wrote and hosted “Cirque du Fringe Mardis Gras!” and a special 20 Penny Circus adult show, all set in the beautiful “Magic Crystal Spiegeltent”, cementing their reputation as the “Faces of Fringe”.
