Previosuly, we offered out a terrific Bordeaux from the 2010 vintage that had a lot of our clients calling and asking for similar offers ... from a few vintages earlier. Going through the same special list where we discovered yesterday's offer, we noticed there was actually a second page with additional wines available for us to purchase. Within seconds, our eyes opened wide when we saw this. Jonathan Maltus turned out a tremendous 2006 here that is drinking incredible right now. This was a little under the radar as it was not originally reviewed by Robert Parker when he tasted many of the 2006's. However, a short time after, he tasted this vintage out of bottle and raved as you can see from the tasting notes above. This is a terrific example of how it is possible to find high end, premium Bordeaux that is ready to drink right away ... at a steal of a price! "From the bottle, the 2006 Laforge, which was not included in the February report, was rated 93. A brilliant wine for the vintage, it possesses sweet tannins, abundant fruit, and remarkable concentration and intensity for this vintage." -Robert Parker "Intense, fragrant, fleshy fruit, tobacco and green tea flavours, very attractive deep Merlot picked at perfect ripeness. 2010-18." -Four Stars; Steven Spurrier, Decanter Magazine "Since the acquisition additional vineyards have been purchased on both sandy and clay over limestone soils hugging the town of Saint Emilion. The six-hectare vineyard of the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru uniquely draws together the three terroirs of the Saint Emilion Appellation. Around ninety percent of the vineyard is composed of old-vine Merlot with the rest being Cabernet Franc." "Green harvesting ensures that cropping is low. The grapes are harvested by hand and, after double-triage, are vinified in modern oak vats. The wine is subject to consistent lees suspension during ageing to enhance the body of the wine." -Winery This wine received 88 points from Stephen Tanzer from the International Wine Cellar and 87 points from the Wine Spectator.
