2010 Charles Joguet Les Petite Roches Chinon

"Les Petites Roches, with its clayey hills and plateau on slightly calcareous soils, offer lively wines with red fruit aromas to drink within the next five years following the vintage. As a matter of fact, this "cuvee" is our Jeunes Vignes cuvée, renamed to evoke the gravelly soil of the Vienne and the calcareous parent rock and to take into account the ageing and maturing of these vines. The vinification method here is similar to the Cuee Terroir, although the vines selected produce a greater density and complexity. The free run wine is used (natural flow-off the juice after alcoholic fermentation), which gives this wine a greater purity and finesse. The press wine (obtained when the marc is pressed) is blended with the Cuvee Terroir. Only the highly qualitative press wines can exceptionnally be blended in this cuvee. All of these qualities give the Les Petites Roches cuvee a capacity to age for several years." - Winery [+]
