2012 Neyers Chardonnay Carneros

"This Chardonnay comes from three vineyards planted to the selection called 'Shot Wente' -- a clone of Chardonnay developed at the Wente Brothers Nursery in the 1930's. Shot Wente Chardonnay grapes are smaller than those we normally see in California. That increases the skin surface available to a given volume of juice. As a result, the wines tend to be rich and flavorful. Our winemaking is totally natural: indigenous wild yeast for the fermentation, wild and naturally present malo-lactic bacteria, an absence of any additives or fining agents, and no racking. The finished wine is rich and creamy, with a lovely aroma of grilled bread and lemon zest." -Winery [+]
