2012 Premiere Napa Valley Robert Mondavi Tokalon Monastery Block Cabernet Sauvignon (20 Cs Made)

This is, without question, one of the rarest wines we have ever offered. On top of that, it's from the 2012 vintage which is going to go down as one of Napa's best vintages in history - even better than 1997! In addition, they only made 20 cases, 240 bottles ... that's IT! All the bottles are hand signed and numbered and only a few people in the world will be able to take advantage of it. This wine was purchased at the Premiere Napa Valley Wine Auction. These are wines that are made for this event only. As the Premiere Napa Valley Chair puts it "Premiere Napa Valley wines are some of the rarest in the world, with winemakers going to the heights of their creativity, skimming just the cream of the crop to craft truly spectacular, limied offerings. Never more than 240 bottles, and often a mere 60 bottles per lot, these wines are made for just this one moment in time, for this one purpose, and they'll never be had again" - It's amazing!! -Remarkable, full bodied, bone dry red blend crafted from the Monastery Block of To Kalon Vineyard -Ideal terroir positioned against the Mayacamas Mountains on the Oakville Bench -Deep-rooted 4'x4' vines for perfectly harmonious wine: power with elegance; intensity with finesse -"Great wines come from great vineyards!"-Robert Mondavi About the Vineyard: One of the most hallowed, storied and precious vineyards in all of the United States, the very name To Kalon is synonymous with luxurious quality. The name To Kalon is derived from the Ancient Greek for "The Highest Beauty", which certainly describes the vines. First planted in 1868, this 31 acre vineyard is dedicated to world class Cabernet, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Sauvignon Blanc. Nestled right against the Mayacamas in one of the choicest terroirs of the Oakville Bench, wines from To Kalon are jaw droppingly complex with sensuous fruit and a wonderful sense of place. To Kalon is the most densely planted vineyard site in all of California, this forces the vines to compete with each other yielding richer fruit, smaller berries, and lower yields. The famous Monastery Block parcel provided the grapes for the Mondavi 2012 Premiere Napa bottling, itself being the best of the best areas to source from this historic vineyard. This represents one of the worlds most outstanding living vineyards, a monument to the greatness of the vine, and humanity's love for it. [+]
