60 Cycle is the dynamic fusion of four veteran musicians who came together in late 2013 to see what would happen. John Paterson brought his keys, his hooks, and his incomparable voice, with the guts of a soul singer, and the presence of a rock and roll front man. Steve Davy brought class to the low end, moving seamlessly from the heart of the rhythm section to the front with a tasty bass lick, and then back to the pocket. Brian Bers brought the classic rock hair and guitar, a classically trained sensibility for arrangement, and a pair of corduroy pants. Guido D’Ambrosio brought a scarf, a V-neck T-shirt, and that funky drum groove, putting that backbeat where you never knew you wanted to hear it. The first time they played together, the chemistry was evident. A hypnotic riff became an infectious groove and grew organically into a song. 60 Cycle sneaks a jazz harmony into a forceful rock song, tucks an extra beat into a slow soulful blues jam, and leaves you with that syncopated hook you just can’t forget.
