Zachary "Zach" Schwartz is a writer for VICE (Magazine),[14] Playboy,[8] and other magazines. He first gained notoriety for his writing on Thought Catalog[15] as well as being one of Rap Genius' most popular bloggers ever. He is cofounder of the viral hip-hop app Rapchat and cofounder of LEAP, the nation's first-ever high school entrepreneurial accelerator program.[11] In 2014, Zach had a well-publicized and controversial internship at Rap Genius, and was criticized, along with his mentor (and founder of Everipedia) Mahbod Moghadam, by Bloomberg Businessweek[10] and Gawker.
Some of Zach's most well-known writing includes playing chess with Wu-Tang Clan, getting a steak dinner with G-Unit, campaigning for president with software developer John Mcafee, writing about the Asian men / Black women dating scene,[16] and spending twenty hours in a strip club. His writing has been syndicated by the The New York Times, WIRED, and covered by BBC News, The Huffington Post, and the Columbia Journalism Review. He has done an AMA on Reddit.[17]
Zach was born and raised in various neighborhoods in Cleveland, Ohio, going to the same high school as Kid Cudi. He is of Taiwanese, Aborigine and Jewish descent. His father was a Legal Aid attorney and his mother a judicial assistant. He is a senior at Columbia University.[+]
