Alessio Aresu is an associate in the Brussels office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s global Antitrust & Competition Practice. His practice focuses on EU, Italian and French competition law.
Mr. Aresu represents Italian and international companies before the European Commission and the Italian competition authority in merger control proceedings. In addition, he has experience in advising clients in global cartel investigations and representing them in related appeals before the EU courts, the French and Italian competition authorities and the Italian administrative courts.
Mr. Aresu has also advised various carbonated soft drinks bottlers on their commercial and compliance practices under Article 102 TFEU, and a global smartphone and hardware manufacturer in various proceedings and consultations before the European Commission concerning standard-essential patents and FRAND licensing under Article 102 TFEU.
Prior to joining Latham, Mr. Aresu worked as academic assistant in the legal studies department of College of Europe (for the Specialization in European Law and Economic Analysis, ELEA) and gained experience in EU and Italian competition law as a trainee at international law firms in Milan and Brussels as well as at the Directorate-General for Competition of the European Commission.
