Alexandra Fisher

Ukulele fronted Indie Pop/Alternative 5-Piece from Central Illinois

The first incarnation of Alex and the XO's formed in early 2011 at Illinois State University. After a brief hiatus, the band returned in May of 2013 as a 5-piece, now featuring Trenton Perry (Franky and The Plexicats) on mandolin, Ryan Ristucci (Tunnel Snakes/Werepire Day/Beer Wave) on guitar, Joe Brandenburger (Christmas Ape, Small Time Bandits) on drums, and Storm Angone (Kings of Olde, Talismen) on bass.

Alex and the XO’s are currently working on their first studio LP with the new line-up, proceeding the debut full length "North to the Future" and sophomore release "Split Screens EP". Playing as many shows as possible, Alex and the XO's toured south in spring of 2014 and are planning a west coast tour in fall of 2014.

"Normal, Illinois band who play C86 style jangle-pop with bouncy guitars,
brightly burning rhythms, catchy twee-pop melodies and a ukulele--which gives rise to some folk overtones. There's an abundance of memorable tunes with hooks that will stick in your brain & induce head-bopping smiles, and the band isn't afraid to crank up the guitars occasionally. But the real star here is the voice of lead singer, Alexandra Fisher, who has the sort of gentle, magically haunting quality that gets under your skin and grabs your emotions-- similar to Tracey Thorn or Angie Heaton. Overall, the band sometimes recalls artists like the Wedding Present, Talulah Gosh, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Shop Assistants, the Shins, Beirut, Amanda Palmer, Folk Implosion." -Charlie Quaker (The Quaker Goes Deaf Radio) [+]
