Altano Quinta Do Ataide Reserva 2010

The Altano Reserva is made exclusively from Touriga Nacional grapes, harvested in the Symington familys Quinta do Atade vineyard, located in the beautiful, isolated Vilaria Valley (Douro Superior, Portugal). The Touriga Nacional is the principal grape variety planted at Quinta do Atade, accounting for 24% of the vineyards 82 hectares (203 acres), making it one of the largest plantings of this variety in the Douro, a variety widely acknowledged as Portugals most emblematic. The vineyard was planted in the late 1970s/early 1980s and the vines are now at an ideal maturity, enabling the production of very fine wines that express the distinctive character of the Nacional (fragrant, violet aromas; rich blackberry flavours) and also that of the Vilaria terroir.
