The Backland Descender is a great ski for the backcountry touring type that is looking for something very light weight and nimble for shooting down narrow couloirs and hiking up to the tallest peak in sight. The construction and Ultralite Woodcore only cause this ski to weigh 1250g per ski (@170cm), for fast and efficient skinning. The 78mm waist that is a little narrow for deep powder, but provides a strong edge hold on firm ice, or windblown snow. Rocker in the tip will make for easy turn initiation, while the camber underfoot will give you rebound and control. If you want a ski that will light and easy on the way up, but still be able to turn and float on the way down, the Atomic Descender will take you to the summit! [+]
