Bella Baita

Bella Baita B&B and mountain retreat is more than a room in a small Guesthouse. We offer an authentic Italian alps experience in our homey “off the beaten path” accommodation. Your stay with us offers a balance between independence and being a part of our family, whether it's a short break or longer stay. Through our sustainable mountain tourism association, we offer family style evening meals and cookery classes featuring local ingredients and specialties. We are both former professional chefs that now enjoy having guests.

Bella Baita (mountain cabin), is an excellent choice as your home sweet home base. Our affordable B&B is located at 3,609 ft (1,100 m) in Piedmont’s alps between Turin, Italy (31 miles east) and Briancon, France (50 miles west). You can explore a wide range of mountains and activities, either just outside our door or further afield. This area also has a rich and varied culinary and cultural history worth discovering.
Bella Baita is located in the Chisone valley in a borgata SerreMarchetto, which is a cluster of mostly summer cottages located above the community of Pinasca. We are roughly one hour by car from Turin’s Caselle airport.
Whist staying in the Chisone valley you can visit the Fenestrelle Fortress, that boasts being the largest fortress in all of Europe and is sometimes referred to as the Great Wall of Piedmont. It has a partially covered stairway that winds its way up the side of the mountain and is just shy of 4,000 steps. Just beyond the fortress you will find the charming mountain villages Usseaux and Balboutet, that offer a spectacular view of the whole of the Fenestrelle Fortress as well as the surrounding mountains. Whilst you meander through the hamlets you will find beautiful flowers and numerous whimsical murals and vertical sundials adorning the villages. Nearby Lago Laux is a mirror smooth mountain lake under an imposing rock wall. There are many paths to walk and places to lunch or picnic.
At the top of the Chisone valley you will find Sestriere ski area, famed for its World Cup and 2006 Winter Olympics downhill races. You'll find more spectacular mountains, walks and views of the mountains that make up the border between France and Italy.
Pinerolo, is the largest town in the area that hosts a lively twice weekly market and varied shopping for everyone to enjoy. It also has two lovely cathedrals, various small museums, and the designation of holding the famous “Man in the Iron Mask” when the prison was still intact and in use.
If you head towards charming Manta Castle, located just beyond and above the lovely medieval village of Saluzzo, you can stop and admire beautiful Staffarda Abbey. Manta Castle has been refurbished and restored to its former glory, when it was home to the local Dukes of Saluzzo. It offers self guided tours with complimentary headphones offering the tour in several languages.
On the other side of our mountains back towards Torino you can discover Avigliana, a charming village whose smooth surfaced natural lakes lie at the base of Sacra San Michele; a large Gothic-Romanesque abbey that dates back to the 10th century. It has been the symbol of Piedmont and it determines the entrance point for the Susa valley.

Our rooms are comfortable, clean and cozy. We have a lovely garden area for relaxing in and vegetable garden for summer produce . We offer free WiFi and a hearty homemade continental breakfast included in the nightly rate.
