He first became interested in mixing music at the age of 12. Growing up in Florida, he was exposed to club and dance music growing up. His musical influences are quite diverse, and BIG MAKK has stated:
“The music I used to listen to definitely was influential to what I do now. Especially as a little kid, my parents would play old Earth Wind and Fire, Bob Marley, old soul music, Jazz… [that] definitely played a big role in today’s music.”
BIG MAKK's career took off when he and a group of other individuals started Shake N' Bass, a daily dance party in Orlando, Florida. Since then, he has received cosigns from Bassnectar, Diplo, and Just Blaze, released music under prominent labels such as Main Course, Mad Decent, Dim Mak, T&A, Sol Selectas, and Slow Roast, and played at music festivals Ultra, Electric Daisy Carnival, and Bass Center.
BIG MAKK's musical genre might be described as heavy trap, featuring deep sub basses and strong kicks. It is definitely upbeat, averaging around 145 BPM. He has complex rhythms comprised of snares, rimshots and intense synthesizers His ideal performances were late at night in packed dance clubs, with fog and programmed light shows.[✔]
On the morning of August 29, 2016 around 7 a.m., a white Dodge Charger carrying three passengers crashed on Lake Drive in Casselberry, Florida. Eyewitnesses report that they saw the car burst into flames. Investigators believed that speeding played a factor in the accident.
