Brief Awakening

Brief Awakening sounds like a tree of soulful songbirds with a message of equality swaying in an indie breeze but anchored in roots of folk and rock. This March 2013 brief Awakening made a big move to Asheville NC where founding members Kat and Kara are currently performing as a duo. Their music was well received in venues across the South on their 2013 tour as well as in local Asheville venues. Brief Awakening was founded in 2008, quickly becoming a part of the New England music scene playing numerous venues and festivals such as The Middle East, TT The Bears, Wake Up the Earth Festival and The JP Music Fest. Brief Awakening’s mellow and uplifting sound has been featured on independent and college radio stations including Salem State Radio and Unregular Radio. Boston magazines; The Noise and The Weekly Dig have positively reviewed Brief Awakening’s performances describing their music as, “energetic, positive and driven with substantial depth behind each note and chord”(Emily Smith "The Noise"). In July 2012, Brief Awakening released their first full length album, “Cardinal Signs” to a packed house at Boston’s The Lily Pad club. The album offers listeners the blissfully melodic, complex song writing, tight harmonies and grounding rhythmic force that Brief Awakening is known for. Lyrical subjects range from the poetically personal to the fight for equality and justice for all people. The band's mission is to create authentic connections and meaningful shared experiences through the power of music. [+]
