Brinton Lucas

Brinton Lucas focuses on appellate litigation and dispositive motions. A former clerk to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and Fourth Circuit Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson III, Brinton has participated in briefing cases before the Supreme Court at the certiorari and merits stages in areas such as administrative law, intellectual property, and class actions. In addition to his work in the Supreme Court, he has drafted briefs in the federal courts of appeals and advised clients on matters involving constitutional law, statutory interpretation, and federal regulation.

Prior to joining Jones Day, Brinton also served as a Bristow Fellow in the Office of the Solicitor General. While there, he successfully briefed and argued an appeal in the Seventh Circuit, assisted with numerous merits cases before the Supreme Court, and advised the Solicitor General regarding appeals in the lower federal courts.
