Broke and Fameless is an Urban Contemporary duo formed in 2013 in Los Angeles, CA. The group’s original musical style is a mixture of HipHop & RnB. Subsequently however; soul, pop, spoken word, & old school jazz and blues elements have been added to the group’s musical palette. Known for their cohesive blend of melodic tunes, pop hooks, and hardcore rap, this male female duo brings a refreshing sound to music listeners everywhere.
The group consists of Los Angeles based rapper YnG Lb (Leroy Bray) and singer/songwriter Xella(che-luh) (Michelle Villegas). After meeting & recording many sessions, they began collaborating with Energy Center Studios in Upland, CA. Shortly after they decided to emerge their contrasting styles to create a new sound, taking on the new identity of “Broke and Fameless.” They have since been immersed with local shows at venues from House of Blues (Sunset & Anaheim) & The Music Boutique, (Los Angeles, CA) to more intimate events such as benefit shows at local colleges like Cal State San Bernardino & CalPoly Pomona.
As struggling musicians they both recognized the passion in each other’s talents as well as the love for good music. In agreement they began promoting a campaign that supports the return of the old school feel in music where the emphasis was not on the riches or fame but for the love and passion of your talent.
