Caesar Augustus

First Roman Emperor and relative of Julius Ceasar who greatly expanded Rome's territories. He annexed Egypt, Dalmatia, Pannonia, Noricum, and Raetia and his reign started an era of relative peace known as the Pax Romana. He was raised by Julia Caesaris, Julius Caesar's sister. Upon his death he was declared a diety and the six month (under the old calendar) was renamed in his honor. He was married three times. His great-uncle was Julius Caesar. Several of William Shakespeare's plays incorporated him as a major character. [+]
