Carbellion was formed in late 2004 based on the idea that a band with soulful eclectic vocals, guitars that are equally comfortable being aggressive and subdued, drums shifting from tranquil to thundering, and a bass that conjoins them into complete balance can accomplish more musically with the sum of these parts than by the strength of any one. Lyrics that convey a concept or tell a story coupled with music that sets scenery and mood quickly captured the attention of people across the US and abroad. Carbellion quickly got off to a busy start with live performances largely due to their three song demo recorded and produced as Studio One in Racine, WI (Soil, November’s Doom, etc) during the first four months of the band forming. Among the initial string of shows were performances as Summerfest 2005 (touted as the world’s largest music festival) on
Milwaukee’s lakefront, two separate Bomblastica (Maximum Ink’s Magazine’s birthday party sponsored by Bergoff Beer and Maximum Ink) events, a welcoming celebration for students at Coe College in Cedar Rapids Iowa, and an opening slot for Motorhead/COC at the Rave in Milwaukee. This last show mentioned at the Rave would only be the beginning of national touring act support slots for Carbellion as they now have opened for such as acts as The Reverend Horton Heat, Brand New Sin, Valient Thorr, Fu Manchu, Scum of the Earth, YOB, Shinedown, Project 86, Trouble, Zeke, Lamont, Clutch, Dark New Day, Gov’t Mule, Powerman 5000, Soil, Seemless, the Sword, Sevendust, and so on. This kind of experience and professionalism has put the band in a position of being highly recommended by venues and sought after for events like those previously mentioned.
Carbellion has received recognition in various forms of media inclusive of radio airplay, published articles, and webzine reviews. Radio stations such as Milwaukee 102.9 and 102.1, Madison’s 94.1, Appleton’s 94.7, and Sheboygan’s 106.5 have had the band live on the air and/or given them airplay in their home state of
Wisconsin. In the December 2006 special edition 100th issue of one of the UK’s biggest rock magazines, Classic Rock, Carbellion’s first full length album titled “Villains” was given 7 out of 10 stars. Webzines all over North America and Europe have had very favorable things to say about their American Heavy Rock demo and the Villain full length recording. After the release of Villains in August of 2006 the band signed with Ecast and Touchtunes for internet jukebox play in clubs/bars/restaurants across Canada and the US. In January 2007 Carbellion signed a non-exclusive deal to re-release the Villains album with Indie 500 Records based out of
Indianapolis Indiana. This opened even more doors for the band as they proceeded to sign endorsement
agreements with many of today’s leading music equipment companies such as Dean Markley Strings, Randall Amplification, Washburn Guitars, Hagstrom Guitars, Gallien Kreuger Bass Amps, N-Tune Tuning
Equipment, Spectraflex Cabling, and so on. A brief tour to Jacksonville Florida and several appearances at the world famous NAMM Conventions (both Summer/Nashville and Winter/Anaheim) followed by a mini tour with dates in Tennessee/Texas/New Mexico/Arizona/California only added to the band’s notoriety. Behind a “teaser” release of two songs on a split EP also featuring Sweden’s Outshine in 2008 (Indie 500 Records) they toured the Midwest over a three week span with their Swedish cohorts. The band released their second full length album titled “The Horse” in November 2009 as a joint venture between Indie 500 Records and Union 414 Records in the US and Dead Tree Music in Europe. Touring commenced throughout 2010 and 2011 in between recording sessions for the next full length album due out in 2012. In December 2011 the band won the
Live Nation Int’l Battle of the Bands semi-finals and is competing in March 2012 in the finals at the House of Blues on Sunset in Hollywood. Carbellion is a band that can capture any ear via the recorded material, hold the attention of the crowd hostage with their impressive live performance charisma, and floor anyone in the industry with their uncharacteristic for a hard rock act work ethic and professionalism.
