Cat Mendez

Singer Songwriter Cat mendez performs in and around Orange County. She is former Mystery Hangup vocalist/guitarist/sound creator and is currently the vocalist/gutiarist of ¡Aparato! an eclectic rock band hat uses traditional Mexican instruments in a Rock band format.

Just after debuting her solo project, Cat Mendez was nominated for "Best Latin" in the 2014 Orange County Music Awards. She's a vocalist, guitarist, songwriter and recording artist from Orange County who draws upon many genres in her solo work as well as in her rock band ¡Aparato! which was nominated for "Best Latin" in the 2013 Orange County Music Awards. In 2007 she was awarded "Best Female Vocalist" in the Pop/Alternative Rock Category for the 5th Annual All Access Music Awards and was featured with ¡Aparato! on NPR's All Things Considered with Audie Cornish in November of 2013. She's performed in the OSF Green Show and for the concert reading of Blu, directed by playwright Virginia Grise in Texas. When she's not tearing it up on stage she is clipping roses from her garden, studying Mexican Traditional Musical guitar styles, learning to play the "The Pink Panther" tune on her Alto saxophone, and co-directing the Rock 'n' Roll Camp for Girls Orange County.
