Chad A. Readler

Chad Readler litigates complex civil, criminal, and appellate disputes and has successfully argued before the United States Supreme Court as well as the Ohio Supreme Court and other appellate courts. He focuses on disputes involving class actions, product liability, punitive damages, fraud, and constitutional law.

Before the United States Supreme Court, Chad has successfully litigated cases involving AEDPA, preemption, the First and Fourteenth Amendments, and the death penalty. In the Ohio Supreme Court, he recently prevailed on behalf of the Cleveland Clinic and, separately, successfully defended the constitutionality of Ohio's charter schools. Chad's lower court victories include vacating a $250 million punitive damages award against Prudential Securities and, in the Sixth Circuit, vacating a $44 million damages award against First American Title Insurance Company. In product liability matters, he has represented clients including R.J. Reynolds, Sherwin-Williams, and Yamaha. He has successfully litigated class actions in the financial, manufacturing, and energy industries. Chad also litigates cases involving the False Claims Act. [1]
