Champagne Leader

Champagne Leader, a band grown from the suburbs surrounding Los Angeles. With sounds similar to St. Vincent, Wilco, Pavement, The Killers, Weezer, Midlake, and The Walkmen, this Southern California band is indescribably catchy to say the least. The band's passion is making harmony-heavy anthems to a beat you can't help but dance to. With an album on the way the future looks bright for this 4 piece.

"The past is where our influence stems from" says singer/songwriter Vincent Munoz recalling the band's mutual affinity for classic icons such as Electric Light Orchestra, Fleetwood Mac, Bowie, Wings, Queen and many more. Munoz had been playing with drummer and long time friend Daniel Morales since high school. Over time the two met bassist Kasey Sullivan who joined Champagne Leader as his first and only band. Then came the droll Shea Branham who joined as lead guitarist.

In 2012 Champagne Leader began performing locally and recorded a number of live videos, demos and home recordings. Shortly after they got in a minivan with instruments, clothes and a suitcase full of CD’s and toured five states on the West Coast, four of which none of the band members had been to. August Southern California heat followed them to Portland, Seattle, Boise, Salt Lake and multiple stops along the way for a two week tour they booked themselves. "Here Comes The Dumptruck," a local Boise blog would describe them as "damn good fun" which pretty much sums them up. After returning home they maintained their focus on live shows. Through 2013 their objective became perfecting their live performance. “There's a certain Champagne Leader sound in our heads that we want to create and we've had the most progress attaining it by playing our songs live. We also know the importance of being a solid live band that can live up to the songs we record.” says Munoz. After playing local venues and festivals as well as cites further out such as San Diego and Las Vegas, all with a huge positive response, the band finally felt ready to sit down and record.

In the Fall of 2014 Champagne Leader will be self-releasing their debut album. Produced, recorded and mixed at Munoz's home studio, the album will consist of 11 tracks and be available on vinyl, CD and of course for digital download. Munoz adds, “We feel we've been sitting on some great raw material that needed to be refined and not rushed. There are songs on here only a few months old sitting next to material I wrote years ago. We're definitely excited to find out how our fans respond.” [+]
