Christine Gärtner is a partner in the Düsseldorf and Frankfurt offices of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm's Litigation & Trial Department. Ms. Gärtner has broad experience in complex commercial litigation and arbitration, especially in banking-related disputes including in the context of the reorganization and liquidation of banks.
Her experience also encompasses deposit protection claims, directors’ and officers’ liability, post-M&A disputes as well as product liability claims. In addition, she has represented issuers as well as (former) officers and directors against shareholder suits, including lawsuits under the German Capital Markets Model Case Law (KapMuG).
Ms. Gärtner represents clients before German courts as well as in international arbitrations, e.g. under the auspices of the International Chamber of Commerce, ICC or the German Institution of Arbitration, DIS.
Ms. Gärtner is a “recommended” lawyer for Dispute Resolution – Commercial Litigation and Liability as well as Arbitration/Mediation by JUVE 2015/2016 and is listed as an “up and coming” arbitration counsel by Chambers Europe 2015 and 2014. Chambers Global 2015 refers to her as “a rising star on the German dispute resolution market, active on post-M&A and financial mandates” and clients comment that “she is really quick thinking.” Ms. Gärtner is also “recommended” in Legal 500 EMEA 2014 in the area of Arbitration with the guide noting that her “negotiation skills are ‘beyond superb.'”
