Cindy Collector's 2 Pack

Here are two of our favorite collectible-level wines from the 2006 vintage. Wine #1 is an iconic winery famous for its blockbuster reds, and the second is from a winery we discovered last year on our buying trip in Napa! Surprisingly powerful and complex, both wines are entering their prime drinking windows right now! Wine #1 is the 2006 Le Macchiole Scrio Syrah, a 96 point rated Syrah from vines planted in the 1980s! Considered “the best vintage of Scrio ever tasted” by Wine & Spirits (96 points), this showstopping red benefits from the magic of the vintage and precious winemaking genius of 100 point winemaker Luca D’Attoma. Wine #2 is the 2006 Bello Cabernet Sauvignon, a phenomenal discovery that went toe-to-toe with the 2012 Caymus 40th Anniversary Napa Cabernet Sauvignon at an in-store 200+ person customer event. True story. The winery charges $100/bottle for this wine. This has to be tasted to be believed, 100% Rutherford fruit that was made by winemaking sensation Aaron Pott. Pricing on both of the properties in tonight’s Cindy Collector’s Two Pack represent a deal tailor-made for the Premium Wine Lover. This 2 pack includes 1 bottle of 2006 Le Macchiole Scrio Syrah and 1 bottle of 2006 Bello Family Vineyards Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 Le Macchiole Scrio Syrah "Eugenio Campolmi planted Bolgheri's first syrah when he began experimenting with vineyards there in the 1980s. His partner, Cinzia Merli, now runs the estate, the wines made by Luca D'Attoma since 1991. This is the best vintage of Scrio I have tasted, with a delicious red character, a wine that captures the elegance and staying power of the region's best within a completely different flavor profile: Here it is cool cedar and exotic green spice, luscious fruit in beautiful, sculptural curves. The bold sweep of flavor focuses into a tight, savory finish that lasts for minutes." - 95 points Wine & Spirits "Dark color, with an attractive intensity of raspberry, blackberry and new oak. Full-bodied, with focused yet tight fruit and supersilky tannins. Very refined and racy for a Syrah. Black pepper and dark fruits come out at the finish. Will develop beautifully in the bottle. Best after 2012. 500 cases made. -JS" - 93 Points Wine Spectator "The 2006 Scrio (Syrah) is a rich, intense wine loaded with ripe dark fruit and plenty of toasted oak. With time in the glass the wine’s signature floral, minty notes gradually emerge, yet this remains a vibrant, youthful Scrio in need of serious bottle age to integrate its oak. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2024." - 92+ Points Antonio Galloni - Vinous "Bright ruby-red. Higher-pitched and fresher on the nose than the 2007 Scrio, with red cherry, sweet spice, lavender and white pepper aromas showing the more polite side of syrah. Then sweet, firm and tangy in the mouth, with harmonious acids lifting the red cherry flavor. This has more drive than the '07 but less meaty varietal character. Finishes velvety-smooth, bright and long. The 2007 is the denser of these two wines, but this is serious and very nicely balanced." - 90 Points Ian Dagata - Vinous Media 2006 Bello Family Vineyards Napa Cabernet Sauvignon "Cherry, chocolate, leather, plum, clove, cedar and tobacco accompanied by great density and structure in the mid-palate. Contrasting spice and fruit in perfect balance define this wine. Tannins are fine-grained and present, but very soft in texture. Finishes with great length." - Winery [+]
