San Francisco based City Tribe began as Duncan Nielsen and Jacob Jones in the winter of 2010. Friends of 8 years, they began writing and playing music in Central California where the sun soaked coast and wave rich shoreline seeped into their collective songwriting.
After moving to SF, they hosted a weekly music showcase to debut their sleepy-eyed bedroom harmonies. The effects rippled and it grew into an equipped rock band with friends Eric Wallace on bass and Cody Rhodes behind the kit. The group has continued to play and write music that inspires a romantic California.
"Their marching, wailing melody lines get to the bottom of perpetual alt-indie and classic folk struggles—identity, heartbreak, and coming-of-age … they do it with irreverent style and earnest brilliance. Carefully calculated, but unobtrusive harmonies bask in their own California-grown sunshine. The result is a shimmering, warming fervor of sound."

"City Tribe has an uncanny knack for weaving together electric and acoustic guitar elements with precise and calculated percussion and topping them off with harmonies and dynamic vocals that send a shiver down your spine. With allusions to bands such as Fleet Foxes and the Avett Brothers, City Tribe has engineered for themselves a sound that falls somewhere between the lines of folk and indie rock with hints of their California roots laced throughout their lyrics and melodies.”
