Attack Near Finsbury Park Mosque
On June 19th around 12:20 am, Darren drove a van into a group of pedestrians outside a mosque in the Finsbury Park north of London. A number of the pedestrians were worshippers attending Ramadan prayers. Darren was restrained by members of the public before police came to the scene and arrested him.
Witnesses say while he was being subdued, he was yelling "I want to kill all Muslims" and was being combative towards the people trying to restrain him.
One person died and ten people were injured. It is unclear whether the person who died was being treated earlier for an unrelated issue.
After being held down by mosque-goers until police arrived, Osborne repeatedly said "I did my job. I done my bit. I'd do it again!" He later asked them to kill him. He also blew the mosque-goers a kiss from the police van.
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick said the terror attack was "quite clearly an attack on Muslims". He is currently being held on terrorism offenses. Investigators believe it was a lone wolf attack.
Darren was born in Singapore but moved to the United Kingdom early in his life. He went to primary school in Barrowby where one of his classmates described him as an "unhinged crazy kid." Another former classmate said that he was a loner and was nicknamed "Darren Frogspawn." Darren later moved to Weston-super-Mare after a time attending Central school.
Darren went on to earn his de gree from Broadoak Mathematics and Computing College. Currently, Darren lists his address in Glyn Rhosyn in Cardiff's Pentwyn with his partner and 4 children. Neighbors describe Darren as a normal person and a quiet man.
