Mr. Crumbaugh has practiced law since 1976 and has focused on secured lending for more than 30 years. He devotes his practice principally to the representation of banks and commercial finance companies in transactional matters.
Mr. Crumbaugh's practice focuses on secured finance. He has closed more than 500 leveraged buy-outs and refinancings. He represents numerous commercial finance lenders and has broad experience in virtually all legal issues faced by banks and commercial lenders. His principal focus is cross-border transactions. He also has substantial experience with first lien/second lien and senior debt/high yield transactions. He has represented lender clients on financings in virtually every type of industry, including:
- Food products
- Media and communications companies
- Heavy manufacturing sectors
- Software companies
Mr. Crumbaugh has been active for more than 25 years in the Commercial Finance Association, the trade association that represents asset-based lenders. He has served as a member of the Governing Board of the Commercial Finance Association Education Foundation and as Chairman of the Foundation and most recently as a member of the Commercial Finance Association's Executive Committee.
Mr. Crumbaugh's rankings include: 2013 Outstanding Lawyer of the Year for Banking and Finance Law by Best Lawyers, 2010 Best Lawyers in America survey in the Banking category, World's Leading Lawyers by the Practical Law Company Yearbooks 2008 and 2009, leading lawyer in the 2008 IFLR1000 guide and top-tier lawyer in Chicago for Finance in Chambers USA 2005-2015.
Mr. Crumbaugh regularly conducts continuing legal education seminars regarding commercial finance topics. In addition, he has published numerous articles on secured lending issues with particular emphasis on tax and accounting issues affecting secured lending.
Mr. Crumbaugh serves as Chairman of the Career Transitions Center of Chicago, a not-for-profit, which helps people find jobs.
