D.J. (Jan) Baker

Jan Baker is a partner in the New York office of Latham & Watkins. Mr. Baker is a member of the Finance Department and former global Co-chair of the firm’s Restructuring, Insolvency & Workouts Practice. Mr. Baker represents companies, lenders, committees, acquirors and other parties in connection with restructuring matters. He also regularly advises boards of directors of public and private companies on matters related to corporate governance and fiduciary duty.

Mr. Baker is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and is its immediate past Chair. He frequently lectures and writes on issues involving corporate reorganization and restructuring.

Described by market sources in The Legal 500 US 2014 as providing "untiring counsel and expertise" and as"particularly effective in sharing his invaluable judgment and providing a calm hand."
