Dr. Shore is magna cum laude graduate of the University of New Hampshire and finishedat the top of his medical school class at WashingtonUniversity in St.Louis. He completeda surgical internshipand ophthalmologyresidency at Wilford Hall Medical Centerin San Antonio, Texas, and a fellowship in ophthalmicplastic surgery at Emory University inAtlanta. While completing his Air Force commitment,Dr. Shore served as Chairman of theDepartment of Ophthalmology and as Director of Residency Training at Wilford Hall and wasConsultant to the USAF Surgeon Ceneral. In 1988 he joined the Harvard University faculty asAssociate Chief of Ophthalmogy and Director ofthe Oculoplastic Surgery Service at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. While thereDr. Shore oversaw research on orbital implants, forwhich he holds two U.S. patents. He trained both US and international fellows, and he continues totravel frequently to teach and lecture in the United States and abroad. He is a former President of theMassachusetts Society of Eye Physicians andSurgeons, former Chairman of the Board of PreventBlindness Texas-Austin Branch, and is the pastPresident of the American Society of OphthalmicPlastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He and his wife,Suzanne, have two sons. Before beginning his medical training, Dr. Shore was a decorated Air Force fighter pilot. He completed a combat tour in Seatheast Asia where he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with 10 oak leave clusters. He still loves to fly.
