Dr. Kalpana has been in the Permian Basin practicing medicine for over 12 years and is best known for her excellent bedside manner and ability to communicate with her patients in a thorough and effective manner. She was born in India where she went to Patna Medical College and Hospital. She attended the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center residency program in Odessa, TX. Dr. Kalpana Prasad began working in Monahans in 2002 after completing her residency program. In 2005, she joined Permian Internal Medicine Associates. Dr. Kalpana Prasad also is the cofounder of Permian Research Foundation. She is involved in teaching residents, medical students, physician assistant students, and nurse practitioner students and is a clinical assistant professor for the department of internal medicine at Texas Tech University Health Science Center. Dr. Kalpana Prasad received the Patients' Choice Award and Compassionate Doctor Recognition in 2012 and "Bridges to Excellence (BTE)" Recognition in diabetes, cardiac care, hypertension, and asthma. She was elected for Fellowship by American College of Physician (FACP) in 2010. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with husband and two children, cooking, dancing, and volunteering.
