Dr. Michael Pistoria is a 1995 graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. His residency training included a year as chief medical resident in internal medicine at Lehigh Valley Health Network. He is a hospitalist, part of a rapidly growing field of medicine with specialists in the care of hospitalized patients.
A fellow of the American College of Physicians and a senior fellow of the Society of Hospital Medicine, Dr. Pistoria has been active in the Society of Hospital Medicine and served as the lead editor of the "Core Competencies in Hospital Medicine," a seminal publication that helped define the role of the hospitalist.
Dr. Pistoria has served on SHM's Education Committee, Annual Meeting Committee, and shares responsibility as course director for the 2013 SHM Annual Meeting. He is published and has presented nationally on the evolution of hospital medicine, its interface with education, and hospital efficiency and quality. He is board certified in internal medicine and is among the first in the nation to achieve the designation of Focused Practice in Hospital Medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Pistoria is an avid Philadelphia sports fan and other than being a sports talk radio host in Philadelphia, cannot think of anything he would rather do than help improve the care of patients.
