Dr. Frenkel founded the East Florida Eye Institute in 1989 to bring state of the art diagnosis and treatment to the Treasure Coast, specializing in the most advanced treatments for Macular Degeneration and Glaucoma.

Dr. Frenkel is a Board Certified and fellowship trained ophthalmologist.  He earned his medical degree from Wayne State University of Medicine where he was awarded numerous honors for his clinical work.  Dr. Frenkel interned at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.  While at Harvard he was made Clinical Fellow in Medicine. He completed his Ophthalmology residency at Kresge Eye Institute.  Before founding East Florida Eye Institute, Dr. Frenkel returned to Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary to pursue advanced subspecialty fellowship training.

Dr. Frenkel is frequently sought for his expert opinion on the research studies of ophthalmologists nationwide.

Dr. Frenkel is a Voluntary Professor of Ophthalmology,at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami, School of Medicine.  He is the only Bascom Palmer staff member on the Treasure Coast. Dr. Frenkel is a Macular Degeneration investigator. He specializes in the most advanced treatments for Macular Degeneration and Glaucoma.
