Eli and the SoundCult is the pop-music brainchild of Elijah Mac Jenkins (of Catastrophist, Mission:Tonight, and Brother of Seth, the design/publishing house, Flatmancrooked). E&tSC;'s sound and songs have been in the making since 2009. The goal of bringing a full-encapsulated, theatrical pop experience to live crowds was only full realized upon the addition of Sacramento artist and designer, Jason Bove, in the summer of 2012.
In October of 2012, E&tSC; released their first single, With Animals (available on Amazon, iTunes, and Spotify), a pop filled two-song EP featuring a duo of destructive love-pop.
Through the winter of 2012, E&tSC; played a number of small, private preview shows, testing out their live stage experience, debuting the first movement in it's entirety in February of 2013.
E&tSC;'s studio debut, Best of Pop, is slated for release in the spring of 2013 from Middleman Media Records. They will be touring extensively through the summer and fall of the 2013 in support of this album.
Catastrophist creates emotional and cinematic rock music which embodies the struggles and the landscapes in which everyday catastrophes are experienced. The band’s sound is a blend of strong guitars, innovative rhythms and chord constructions, and vocals that soar and cut. Their lyrics often reflect a group that has deep friendships and a past littered with failed relationships, unexpected triumphs, addiction and loss, and longing for a legacy.
Catastrophist is ready to wear its scars with pride. The gents are ready to put their DIY roots to use and provide the transformational experience its name implies, making people feel, think, and move, through music. Catastrophist is, at the end of the day, friends with 20 years of history, leaving them a passionate group of musicians and an accidental family.
