The project began in 2015 when we, travelers ourselves, decided to find a place where we could share the two things we love most: traveling and photography. Our main goal was to combine these two passions and create a space where people can live, share ideas and exchange experiences about traveling while also falling in love with photography. We even have our own gallery where guests can browse through or purchase photographs. That’s our hostel.
Fernweh Photography Hostel is situated in in the charming area of downtown Bogota known as La Candelaria. We are 3 minutes from “El Chorro de Quevedo”, where Bogotá was borned. We are also 5 minutes to the Library “Luis Ángel Arango”, which was founded in 1923 as a small library with a few books on economics. Today its collection has grown to the point where it has become the country's premier library and has come to be considered to be the most important public library in Latin America. We are also from 5 to 10 minutes walking from the most important museums such: Museo Botero, Museo del Oro, La Casa del Florero, Casa de la Moneda, Museo Militar, among others. We are also 5 minutes walk to the presidential palace and the major office.
We have two dorms: one with 9 beds and chimney and the second one with 3 beds (this last one with its own toilet). Moreover we also have two private rooms. We are very proud of our beds, which have the best mattresses available in the market. The traveler will sleep with feather beds, which are the perfect blankets for the coldness of Bogota.
