"This young man is on his way," states former A&R exec, Holly Hutchison (Capitol & Atlantic Records). Frank possesses "beautiful vocal tone" and employs "compelling songwriting," adds Hutchison.
2014 was “the good kind of busy” for Frank Hurd. In April, in a matter of about 8 hours, Frank won the Chris Austin Songwriting Competition, performed for 20,000 music festival attendees, and then hurried to a venue in Charlotte, NC to play to a capacity crowd with his band.
In the following weeks, Hurd had a song placed on two separate music compilations - one for bestselling author Paul Boynton, the other for the OneFund Boston, benefitting victims of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing. The OneFund compilation committee ultimately decided to name the benefit album after a line from Frank's song, "Light."
Two weeks later Frank released his second album, “Empty Canvas,” which, like his debut, became an iTunes top-5 EP on the singer/songwriter charts.
In addition to receiving acclaim for his songwriting and singing abilities (SingerUniverse “Best Vocalist Of The Month"), Frank has played at music festivals across the country including MerleFest (NC), Tin Pan South (TN), The Cutting Edge Music Fest (LA), The Block Island Music Festival (RI), and the Millennium Music Conference (PA). He has performed with Old Crow Medicine Show, Ben Kweller, and toured along much of the East Coast with the Frank Hurd Band.
Frank's other credentials include film and TV placements, winning the “Show Me The Music International Songwriting Competition,” winning a national talent competition (performing in front of a live audience of 5,000 people), and winning a songwriting competition judged, in part, by renowned producer, Elliot Mazer (Neil Young, Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan).
