Geoffrey K. Gavin

Geoffrey Gavin focuses his practice on patent litigation, PTAB litigation, and strategic IP counseling. He has experience with numerous technologies, including medical devices, wireless telecommunications, data encryption and computer security, software, video and image processing, automotive products, packaging, athletic footwear and equipment, and floor covering.

Geoffrey has attained positive results for clients in significant matters throughout the U.S. He has appeared in district courts in more than a dozen states and argued and presented at numerous claim construction, dispositive motion, and other types of hearings. Geoffrey also represents clients in post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Recently, he was part of a team that successfully stayed a multipatent case filed by Intellectual Ventures against Compass Bank in view of inter partes review (IPR) proceedings at the PTAB on the asserted patents. Geoffrey led a PTAB team that successfully challenged three patents asserted by Intellectual Ventures against numerous aspects of Compass Bank's online banking operations. He also recently represented several clients in the video surveillance and security industry and helped them successfully resolve disputes concerning patents asserted against their customers. [1]
