Gretchen Pleuss

At a mere 23 years old, Gretchen Pleuss is a seasoned performer. Born and raised in Ohio, Gretchen wrote her first song by the age of 12 and has since developed her skills as a songwriter by combining elements of folk, rock, soul, and jazz.

The influences of Joni Mitchell, Shawn Colvin, and Paul Simon can be heard in Gretchen's unique chord progressions and vocal nuances. Her lyrics are pure and poetic, eloquently describing love, heartbreak, the natural world, and social injustice. Gretchen's songs continue to resonate with listeners at a deep, emotional level.

In 2012, Gretchen won the Searchlight Songwriting Competition for her song "Foreign Car" and was thereafter interviewed for the In Search of a Song series on Public Radio Exchange out of Bloomington, Indiana. In 2013, she was featured as a guest performer on Bill Payne's (Little Feat) solo tour, Tracing Footsteps.

To date, Gretchen has played at an array of venues throughout the United States, Ireland, Peru, and Ecuador. In recent years, she has performed at prominent music festivals such as the Kent State Folk Festival, Indie Week Ireland, the Black Potatoe Independent Music Festival, Burning River Fest, Launch Music Conference, and the Montauk Music Festival. You can catch Gretchen perform regularly throughout Ohio.

Gretchen’s discography includes an E.P. and three full-length albums. Her newest recording, Out of Dreams, was produced by Jim Wirt (Fiona Apple, Brian Setzer, Incubus, etc.) and can be downloaded from Itunes. She is currently working on her next album, set to be released in December, 2014. [+]
