Gypsy Comet

Gypsy Comet is an Ohio based powerhouse of fuzzed out, rafter shakin', hard drivin', early 70's inspired rock 'n roll fury! Firmly built on the foundation of edgy blues and rock, the group quickly came together as a four-piece consisting of member's from Grooveshire, Magic Jackson, C Wrights Parlour Tricks and The White Soots. Highly energized performances and melody-infused anthems define Gypsy Comet as one of the region's most powerful rock outfits. Chris Scott's amazingly powerful yet soulful vocals are reminiscent of early tones produced by great rock n' roll front men such as Steve Marriott, Chris Robinson, and Robert Plant. The guitar histrionics of Kyle Byrum lend a psychedelic, bluesy edge to the bands sound. On percussion, Kyle Sweney's unique, dynamic ability to go from tinkerbell touches to caveman pounding with metronome precision is virtually unseen elsewhere in modern music. Widely known as a key ambassador to the Dayton, OH funk scene, Mike "McNasty" McKewen (bass) is one of the most respected and dynamic musician's around. His experience provides an uplifting approach to songwriting, which firmly defines the band's overwhelming sound. The bands vintage approach to songwriting combine a plethora of sound that helps to stir a unique blend of psychedelic ambience and folk-inspired lyrical notation. Gypsy Comet has taken some well-loved time-tested recipes and put their own mark on them. "You might be able to identify some of their influences, but they’re not just copying licks. You can cop an attitude, but you can’t fake soul. This group has soul!"
Collectively, the group has over 60 years of tour experience; recording and playing with Grammy award winning and Hall of Fame inductees. Some of the artists they have recently shared the stage with include Robin Trower, Kenny Wayne Shepperd Band, JJ Grey and Mofro, Rusted Root,Victor Wooten, Davy Knowles & Backdoor Slam, Blues Traveler, Indigenous, Candlebox, Seven Mary Three, Styx, Bernie Worrell, Peter Frampton, and Derek Trucks.

The band is currently working with Lincoln Parish (Cage the Elephant) and Talk Box Rodeo in Nashville, TN on the production and release of their debut self-titled EP. Chris Scott backs the band's heavily anticipated material by reaffirming the groups powerful sound: "Working with Lincoln has enabled us to appreciate the realness of our music. It's gritty, bluesy, soulful and raw...the way music should be".

Gypsy Comet will be releasing the EP both on the road and throughout their home state of Ohio during the fall and winter of 2014.
