Part of what makes The Deep South such a rich tableau is the point at which the lines blur between the ordinary and the surreal. Hound Of Goshen has come to exist on that fault line. Named after a 150 year old legend out of South Carolina, this band seeks to evoke the shades and humidity of July Carolina nights by understanding and embracing the underbelly of Southern culture. So what does that mean in musical terms? It means embracing the musical colloquialisms born of an amalgam of the many cultures that came to light here. Hound Of Goshen is comprised of mature musicians who have all recently parted with the sound and fury of loud rock bands...collectively, the band has chosen to slow down, get quiet, and pay close attention to acoustic song craft. Not just another half-realized string band, HOG strives to tap into the way Southerners speak in daily conversation...and to also come eye level with fellow Southerners and tell their stories without judgement...in concrete terms, the band is an even blend of folk, americana, and country that doesn't attempt to hide the fact that it's a rocker at heart....For 150 years folks have been seeing that ghost dog in Newberry,SC when conditions are right...the North Augusta,SC band HOUND OF GOSHEN may eventually outpace the legend that inspired its moniker if the songs are true to the soil upon which they have been planted....so....wanna hear a ghost story?
