James Hockley has advised companies in relation to various forms of intellectual property rights, including trademarks, copyrights, domain names, and patents. He has assisted with applying for such rights and protecting these against infringement by third parties. James regularly reviews third parties' U.K. and European Community trademark applications and advises clients as to whether they should consider opposing such applications. He also reviews intellectual property rights in the context of corporate acquisitions, providing appropriate warranties and indemnities to protect clients' interests.James has represented clients in a range of contentious matters, including disputes of a general commercial nature, as well as disputes within the pharmaceutical industry. Most recently, he has been involved with the acquisition of an international trademark portfolio for which he drafted various assignment agreements and organized the filing of recordals in a number of jurisdictions. In relation to this trademark portfolio, James has undertaken commercial research and provided trademark infringement advice.
