James Small

James Small's practice focuses on complex civil litigation, including pretrial discovery and trial preparation. He has experience in many aspects of litigation, including managing discovery, taking and defending depositions of fact and expert witnesses, researching and drafting motions, arguing legal issues in court, preparing expert witnesses, and post-trial briefing.

James is currently involved in Jones Day's defense of the "Engle progeny" smoking and health lawsuits brought against R.J. Reynolds in Florida. He has been a member of several trial teams in cases tried to jury verdict, including Ellis v. R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and Baker v. R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., both of which resulted in complete defense verdicts for Reynolds. [1]
