James Z. Liang

James Liang's practice encompasses a broad range of fields, including M&A, banking and finance, capital markets, IP, antitrust and competition, and civil or administrative litigation. He has substantial experience advising clients in high tech, IC design, software, and financial services industries on a variety of cross-border transactions, strategic alliances, public tender offers, share swaps, real estate developments, labor or environmental regulatory responses, and commercial arbitrations.

Besides providing antitrust advice for multinational airlines and energy, health care, telecom, media, and internet companies, James has advised on several complex deals, including MediaTek's merger with MStar Semiconductor; SpringSoft's merger with Synopsys; Micron's sponsorship of Elpida's reorganization and acquisition of Rexchip; Micron's subscription for Inotera's private placement shares; Tokyo Electron's attempted $29 billion merger of equals with Applied Materials; CommScope's acquisition of TE Connectivity's Telecom, Enterprise and Wireless network business; and KHNC's joint venture with CPC (a Japanese company’s largest petrochemical investment plan in Taiwan).
