Jana K. Dammann de Chapto
Dr. Jana K. Dammann de Chapto is a counsel in the Hamburg office of Latham & Watkins. She is a member of the firm’s Litigation & Trial Department and global Antitrust and Competition Practice.
Ms. Dammann de Chapto focuses her practice on competition law and EU law, particularly state aid, trade and export control law, merger control, antitrust and public procurement law. She represents corporate clients from different industries, including the aerospace and energy sector, before the European Commission and national competition agencies as well as before the German and European Courts (General Court and Court of Justice).
Ms. Dammann de Chapto joined the firm in 2007. She completed parts of her required practical training in the Hamburg and the Brussels offices of Latham & Watkins.
Ms. Dammann studied in Hamburg, Vancouver and Miami. After her First German State Exam she worked at the Chair of Prof. Dr. Peter Behrens at the University of Hamburg where she obtained her doctorate on EC and US merger control law summa cum laude. She also worked as an assistant to Prof. Dr. Dr. Ernst-Joachim Mestmäcker at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law where she focused on research in EC merger control law.
