Jason Garr is an associate in the Intellectual Property Litigation Practice in the Washington, D.C. office of Latham & Watkins. He represents high-profile and competitor companies in a variety of industries and technologies relating to automotive systems, security and encryption, global positioning systems, optics, GUIs, distributed storage, software, integrated circuits and computer architecture patents.
Mr. Garr’s experience handling complex patent litigation includes representation before a myriad of district courts and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He contributes to all phases of litigation from strategy development, discovery and motion practice. Mr. Garr also drafts appeal briefs and assists in oral argument preparation at the Federal Circuit and Supreme Court.
Prior to joining Latham, Mr. Garr was a patent litigation associate at another law firm in Palo Alto, CA. Before law school, he was a patent examiner in mechanical and electrical arts at the US Patent & Trademark Office.
While in law school, Mr. Garr served as Executive Editor for the Northwestern Journal of Technology and Intellectual Property and was a member of the Supreme Court Clinic. He also externed as a clerk in the chambers of Judge Virginia M. Kendall of the District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
