JD Marple is a partner in Latham & Watkins' Silicon Valley office and a member of the Corporate Department. His practice focuses on strategic counseling and negotiation advice with respect to technology transactions and outsourcing arrangements. Mr. Marple regularly structures and negotiates a wide variety of transactions, including strategic alliances, joint ventures, intellectual property asset acquisitions, patent and other intellectual property licenses, manufacturing, supply and distribution agreements, and marketing and advertising agreements. His clients range from start-ups to established public companies and their customers worldwide, particularly in the fields of eCommerce, Internet services, software, hardware, semiconductor design and related industries. Mr. Marple also represents numerous clients in US and international outsourcing deals ranging from traditional IT outsourcing arrangements to focused business process deals.
Prior to joining Latham, Mr. Marple was an associate in the Technology Transactions Group at a Silicon Valley law firm, where he had been since 1999. Prior to graduating from law school, Mr. Marple worked in Washington, D.C. as a lobbyist for the Business Software Alliance and as a legislative aide to Congressman Joe Moakley.
