Jennifer K. Messina

Jennifer Messina's practice focuses on complex and commercial civil litigation and arbitration in state, federal, and international courts. Her practice has included a wide variety of subject matters, and she has experience in representing both defendants and plaintiffs. She has worked on cases involving breach of contract, energy and environmental litigation, class action and mass tort litigation, toxic tort, insurance, intellectual property, banking, and civil RICO. She has experience in pre-trial discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and settlement negotiations.

Jennifer has a robust pro bono practice. She currently is the lead associate overseeing Jones Day New York's asylum pro bono program. As part of her involvement with the program, she has successfully represented and secured asylum for several LGBT individuals escaping persecution in their home countries. In 2012, she received the Immigration Equality Safe Haven Award for Excellence in Pro Bono Representation. During her time at Jones Day, she has also assisted clients in family court in matters involving child support and uncontested divorce, and in federal court in cases involving copyright infringement claims.
