Jesse Stone is an unconventional risk-taker, shooting for the moon to make past the trees. Stone's debut record, Break Of Day (2014) showcases his poetic lyrical prowess and expansive stylistic range. (The Montreal Gazette, 2015)
His songs range from rockandroll to spirited sea shanties to dark ballads, often from the perspectives of misguided characters. With themes of unrequited love, self-discovery, , his lyrics are rooted in innocence and soiled with experience.
Stone group up in the Montreal music scene. At 19, he was recognized by Canadian radio host Terry Dimonte who referred to the artist introspective writing style as "a throwback to another era." At 22, after graduating from TREBAS Institute, Stone founded the Montreal music collective Hot Soupe which hosted a music blog produced Bandstand, a local music showcase and fundraiser. The event which amasses $5,000 for the Montreal Children’s Hospital.
In November 2015, Stone released his debut record, Break Of Day. The album featured an array of Canadian musicians including Sam Roberts Band drummer Josh Trager, and Montreal bluegrass all-stars Josh Zubot and Guy Donis. The ten-song LP was mixed by producer Dave Sturton and mastered by Kevin Blackler in Brooklyn.
