Joe Garner aka Rufus Ray

Growing up in the south, Joe had early exposure to classic country; siting Elvis Presley, Hank Williams Sr., and Willie Nelson as major inspirations. Moving into the suburbs to start public school, he was then introduced to a plethora of new musical influences. The 90's brought on memories of Ace of Base, Drivin' & Cryin', Dave Matthews Band, and Nine Inch Nails.

Throughout middle school, however; Joe spent a majority of his time listening to his impressive record collection where you could hear the heavy riffs of Jimmy Page with Led Zeppelin, the wild rampages of Jimi Hendrix, and the smooth, mellowed-out vibe of Eric Clapton with Cream. It was during this time that he found his passion for soul singing and 60's rock. To this today, some of the most noticeable influences include Joe Cocker, Steve Winwood, The Allman Brothers, Bob Dylan, and the list still continues.

Nowadays, Joe Garner has no problem keeping up with today's musical pace; you can hear him covering Gotye, Mayer Hawthorne, My Morning Jacket, Train, The Black Keys, and more.
