John Williams is an associate in the Silicon Valley office of Latham & Watkins in the Emerging Companies Practice. Mr. Williams practices general securities and corporate law, with an emphasis on the representation of public and private companies in the technology and life sciences industries, venture capital funds and investment banks. His transactional practice includes securities offerings, venture capital financings and mergers and acquisitions. His general company representation includes advising companies regarding securities law compliance, corporate governance matters, employment matters, equity incentives and formation and startup matters.
Mr. Williams received his JD from Stanford Law School, where he was a Development Editor for the Stanford Law Review. While in law school, Mr. Williams interned at the Securities and Exchange Commission, and was a judicial extern for the Honorable Edward M. Chen of the US District Court for the Northern District of California. He received his undergraduate degree from Georgetown University, with a BA in Economics and Government and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
