John Cooper

John Cooper has worked on many groundbreaking projects in the construction and infrastructure sectors. He has acted for major constructors in disputes on transport projects and pioneered the use of a new and innovative form of dispute resolution (SEAM) that has resulted in successfully settling matters.

Prior to joining Jones Day in 2013, John was the lead lawyer on teams that acted for CRIA on its operation and maintenance agreement for the regional rail network in New South Wales, OneSteel on the mining services agreement for the SMR mine, the successful Transcity JV Bid for Northern Link (now called Legacy Way), and the Gateway Upgrade Project. He also was extensively involved in the Sunshine Coast Transport Project for the Queensland government; has acted in Supreme Court actions in relation to the design of the pavement at Port Botany and the Port of Brisbane; and advised Centennial Coal on its major projects in NSW, Riversdale on the contracts for the development of the Benga Coal Mine, and RailCorp on the program alliance for all of its signaling work in NSW.
