John Rainbird

John Rainbird acts for clients in disputes throughout the Asia Pacific region. Based in Singapore since 2011, John regularly represents clients in high-value international commercial arbitrations, with a particular focus on contractual disputes in the energy, mining, commodities, consumer products, and construction sectors.

John has acted in arbitrations under a variety of regional and international rules, including ICC, SIAC, UNCITRAL, and ad hoc rules. Over the past several years, John has successfully defended claims for tens of millions of dollars, including a recent claim for US$384 million. John works with clients in jurisdictions such as Vietnam, Thailand, Korea, Singapore, Japan, and Australia, and he has extensive experience in matters relating to Indonesia.
